While grouping young learners in two different groups of five to nine year olds and ten to thirteen year olds a teacher can teach in a style that appeals to the age group more efficiently. The younger group learns more from repetition and acting or singing songs. They have a shorter attention span and therefore lesson plans should be kept in shorter intervals. The older group tends to have better memorization skills and as a rule do not like to perform or be embarrassed. A lesson plan can be drawn differently with each age group. I learned that the two productive skills are speaking and writing and the two receptive skills are listening and reading.
