This final unit is about troubleshooting for various problems in the classroom. In the first lesson, the teacher should not begin teaching from the textbook but instead focus on building a rapport with the students. In addition, when starting a class it is better to use a warm-up exercise to increase motivation for the students. One problem a teacher might encounter is when the students are at different levels. One way to help adjust for this is to pair stronger and weaker students together for activities, although it is important to make sure the stronger student is not too dominating. Another issue the teacher may face is large classrooms. In this case, pair and group work can be very helpful in allowing all students a chance to participate. The teacher should discourage the use of the students' native language in the classroom, but at the same time try to understand why the native language is being used--if the activity is too difficult and so students are not using English, then the teacher should adjust the activity, for instance. For reluctant students, pair work can help build confidence as can controlled practice. There are many problems that may occur in the classroom, but the teacher should try their best to adjust their lessons to avoid these issues.
