This unit explained future tenses in English, which are as follows: future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, and going to future. An example of future simple would follow the general sentence structure of \"Subject/will + verb.\" This can be taught in various creative ways such as fortune telling/palm reading, writing about \"what if\" scenarios (i.e. if you won the lottery... you will...\"), and through songs. Future perfect follows the structure of \" subject + will + have + past participle\" with an example sentence being \" I will have lived in Italy for two years next summer.\" Usage of past perfect is to say/express something that will have already been done at a particular time in the future. Teaching ideas are also numerous and can be creative. For example: students can write/tell each other what they will have done by certain ages in their future and/or diary writing. Future continuous is written/said in the form \"subject + will + be + verb-ing,\" with an example sentence being \"I will be working in the summer.\" The future continuous is used in several instances: to say that something will be in progress at a particular moment in time in the future, to predict the present, for polite questions about people's plans, and to refer to future events that have been decided. Future perfect continuous follows the structure of \" will + have + been + verb-ing\" and is used to express/say how long something has continued by a certain time. An example sentence of future perfect continuous is: \"By the time you travel to Germany, I will have been living here for five years.\" Lastly. going to future tense follows the structure of \"be going + infinitive\" with an example being: \"I am going to the gym tomorrow.\" This tense is used in instances when an individual wants to express intentions, predictions based on present evidence, and plans (made before speaking). As with the other tenses, both future perfect continuous and going to future can be taught in various, creative ways. As a language teacher, it is highly beneficial that students experience diversity in the way that they are being taught and in the activities that they are asked to complete. I believe that the more creative the task, the more engaged the student will be. I believe this because it requires students to use their imagination while activating and applying memory and knowledge of the material learned beforehand. If students are excited or interested in an activity, I believe learning is more effective. Therefore, as a teacher, it is vital to not only be aware of common errors that students will generally make when it comes to material such as tenses, but to also know their class. Knowing your class and establish a good rapport with your students, as well as a friendly, welcoming, and positive peer to peer environment, teachers will have a better idea and understanding of which activities will be most effective and enjoyed amongst their students.
