This lesson covers classroom management. It is expressed that it does not matter if one is an extrovert or introvert when it comes to working well in a classroom. Establishing good rapport with students is important in a classroom. I have learned that this can be done through various ways, such as allowing the students to correct each other, use pair and group work, start the class of with an ice breaker activity, make eye contact, and give clear instructions. Another important factor about classroom management is how a classroom is arranged. Factors that affect how a classroom is arranged, include nationality, age of students, space available, and student personality to Name a few. In addition, separate tables, horseshoes and circle, and orderly rows are all ways to arrange a classroom. Orderly rows is the most customary way to arrange seats. Also, I learned that there are advantages and disadvantages to teacher talk time. Teacher talk time allows the students to hear the correct pronunciation of the English language. A disadvantage to this is that the amount of time that students can participate is reduced. When trying to get a student’s attention, organizing an activity or acknowledging a student it is important to use his or her name at the end of your statement. Overall I learned that the way one communicates and organizes a classroom can set the tone for the whole school year.
