This unit is about teaching pronunciation and phonology; it focuses on STRESS, RHYTHM, INTONATION, and INTERNATIONAL PHONETIC ALPHABET and its use. Some techniques for indicating and teaching intonation are: "nonsense words" This lesson was very difficult. It is hard to teach something that we naturally learn when we learn our language as infants. The phonetic symbols help, but it is hard to figure out where to put the stress in each word and in the sentences. I think with practice teaching, I will learn which way works best. This lesson clearly breaks down the different aspects of pronunciation; from how the sounds are made, to how they can be identified and classified, to how they are written. It then goes into how to teach these sounds, as well as how to help students understand how to use stress, pitch, and tone to convey deeper meanings.
