This unit helped me dispose the notion that I would not be able to teach business English in the future. It is good to know that it is not necessary to possess any technical skills or come from a certain background to teach business or specialized English. Most of my experience has been teaching students younger than me, children or teenagers. Never people older than me or my peers. It is good to know that although some of the needs are different, it is not so drastically different that it would be impossible to teach.Techniques to encourage interaction: pair-work. Group-work.Plenty of controlled and guided practice before fluency activities.Make speaking activities purposeful(create a desire and need to communicate).Change the classroom dynamics.Careful planning.With certain activities you may need to allow students time to think about what they are going to say.
