In looking at the parts of speech from the viewpoint of a non English speaking person, who is wishing to learn English,the parts of speech can seem daunting. I have to admit studying this section was a bit overwhelming for me at first and English is my native language. It has been some years back for me, I remembered my lessons from third grade as I read through this unit. I would think that it might be overwhelming to my students as well. I would remain encouraging and helpful and keep my students engaged in the learning processIn this unit I learned a lot about how to teach proper pronunciation of English words. There are many ways to pronounce letters and letter combinations and it is imperative to cover this when teaching English to non native English speakers. Often times English words are not pronounced how they seem. For example, the same letter and combination of letters can have multiple interpretations, thus multiple ways of pronunciation. Factors such as tongue movement, vocal chord vibration and mouth movement effect how words are pronounced.
