This unit gives us valuable insight into different methodologies of teaching. The ESA method highlighted in this unit is an incredibly valuable tool as a new teacher as it provides a means to keep students' attention and keep them involved in the lesson. It can be very easy for learners to \"tune out\" during a lesson and having a method that keeps them involved and makes the learning student centered is highly valuable. Being able to see the advantages of this method over the other traditional methods really helps to show the strengths of this system. This unit taught the rules surrounding past tense verbs. It covered all forms including, past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. From this, I have learned that similar rules apply to both present and past tenses. Although there are always irregular verbs, the general rules can often have aspects in common e.g. all continuous forms include some form of the verb 'to be' plus -ing. I also learned specific tips that will help my teaching the future. For example, past continuous almost always has some form of time reference.
