This unit was vey informational and helpful in the fact that it gives extra help in the positive aspects of using English text books, along with the teachers own ideas. I have been using this methaod and it works very well in the classroom. Grades 1-2 love to learn English by song, so I use the material in the book to write songs that go along with the book lessons. I have found that if the younger children like a song then they will learn more words in English in one class than boring them with nothing but the book lesson, and they remember it longer.In unit thirteen I learned about teaching pronunciation and phonology. This unit taught me about the different types of stress placed on a word and in a sentence. Also it reviewed how certain stresses can affect the meaning of the language trying to be conveyed. Syllables were also covered and how there are different types of stress in a syllable. The phonemic alphabet was introduced and how certain parts of the mouth are needed for proper pronunciation. Different techniques were also introduced to lead an effective class in teaching individual sounds.
