This unit covers the basic units which make up grammar- namely the parts of speech. It is with these building blocks that sentences with meaning are built. As a native speaker, I got used to taking everything about my language for granted. It is important that I learn these things as a student would, so I know how to teach it, and break it down further. I learned how to more deeply analyze the way English is structured, which will be invaluable going forward.Having studied other foreign languages before, specifically their grammars, I was already fairly familiar with the mechanics of the English past tenses. This was unit did provide useful information regarding the errors frequently made by new leaners of English. The many cases of irregular forms in the past tense of English will provide most students a challenge, so knowing what difficulties to expect allows for the teacher to tailor their lessons around them.
