Different teaching aids may be used in teaching practice to make lessons more interesting, effective or less dependent on the textbook. There is a variety of equipment which can be found in classrooms: interactive/black board, overhead projector, visual aids, worksheets, CD/DVD players, dictionaries, course books, computers, etc. Each of these has advantages, but also disadvantages, so the teachers should be careful when selecting the one(s) which are appropriate for particular content/activity. Since it is often for technology to cause problems (main disadvantages of modern technology), the teacher should have a back-up plan or plan extra activities in advance. For instance, if a CD player (meant for listening activity), for some reason doesn?t work, the teacher should have prepared a back-up plan ? reading the tape-script out loud to the students.
