Unit seven was about employing ESA (engage, study, activate) method to introduce new language. Teachers may employ the Straight arrow structure, the Boomarang structure, and the Patchwork structure for any lesson to be taught. Knowing about your learners is more they helpful when choosing what realia, mime, or pictures to engage students. Gap fill, matching and drilling exercises may be employed in the study phase. Finally, paired discussions, role play, even story building may be used in the activate stages, this being an example of the Straight Arrow approach. Either way, knowing when and how are important for learners to become fluent.
