During this lesson I enjoyed watching the two video lessons and observing the actions of the teacher and reactions of the students. Since the videos were of a real classroom and did not appeared staged with the students reactions, it gave a rise to my belief in what techniques are ineffective, as well as what techniques would be more welcomed by the students. I immediately noticed the negative demeanor of the teacher in the first video, by his facial expression and lack of enthusiasm towards the students. It made the first video dreadfully long and boring to watch. In contrast, it was immediately clear in the second video that the teacher was genuinely having more fun with the lesson and that his smile and good mood were contagious with the students. I even laughed at the miming and motions the teacher made in order to keep the students alert and engaged. I was more interested in the second video and did not feel that the video was as time consuming or as long as the first video. It was a good unit exercise to have these realistic comparisons of real lessons.
