This unit quickly led me through the parts of language that form the structure of the English language. By focusing on only the fundamentals of nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions, Unit 2 allowed me to gain a greater understanding of how these pieces come together to form comprehensible sentences. Rather than initially discussing each part of speech in depth, this unit successfully offers a skeleton that will be useful as the course begins to go into greater depth about these different bones that create structured grammar. In Unit 2, I learned the formal differentiations of types of nouns (countable, uncountable), adjectives (comparative, superlative), etc. This is particularly helpful because the proper definitions serve as guides for me as I synthesize and compartmentalize the different types of information in the unit. Doing so would have been overwhelming without the unit's gaze at both the \"big picture\" perspective in combination with the specificity in explaining the functions of each part of speech.
