150-hour Certification Course with Teaching Practice (CTP)
Our 150-hour certificate course with teaching practice features an online training course, as well as six hours of in-class teaching practice. The resulting online TEFL certificate is recognized around the world and is warmly welcomed by employers from all sections of the English teaching community. The course has many great benefits, including the opportunity to set your own pace of study. As with all our course graduates, you will also be able to take advantage of our career support services after the course for as long as you need them.
Once the formalities of the application process are complete, you will receive an email containing the log-in details required to access your personal online course control panel. By entering your details you can then work on the course materials online or download them to your personal computer, tablet or smartphone. How and where you choose to study is entirely up to you.
After working through the first set of materials, your understanding of them will be assessed before you move on to the next set. Once you have studied and been successfully assessed for all the course units, you will then move on to the actual teaching part of the course which is conducted at a location chosen by you.
On completion of six practice lessons, you will need to submit your course documents for review by our trainers. After reviewing the documents, successful candidates will graduate from the course and receive a 150-hour CTP TEFL certificate.
TEFL Course Aims
The aim of our 150-hour CTP TEFL course is to provide every student with a well rounded and comprehensive introduction to the world of TEFL. Upon completion of the course you should expect to have developed a sound working knowledge of the English grammar system, something that is essential for your future career. You should also possess a variety of new teaching skills and techniques that will improve your performance in the classroom and benefit your future students.
TEFL Course Content
The 150-hour CTP TEFL course is organized into two phases. Phase 1 is all about classroom teaching skills. Among the many subjects covered in this section are teaching theories and methodologies, classroom management, lesson planning, and ways to test and evaluate your students. Also within this phase you will look at language awareness, including areas of English grammar, such as the parts of speech and the tense system, as well as other important topics such as pronunciation.
In order to make the study process as smooth as possible, this wide array of subjects have been carefully divided into twenty separate units that build your understanding gradually, rather than simply throw large amounts of information at you. With this course design we have found that students are able to comfortably work through the course materials at whatever pace they find works best for them.
Phase 2 is where you actually get to teach in a real classroom. For this part of the course you will need to arrange a time and place to complete your minimum six hours of teaching practice. After submitting the resulting teaching practice documents to us online, we will let you know our feedback within two working days. Note this course is graded with a straightforward pass or fail only.
The certificate awarded for this course shows that you have completed a 150-hour TEFL certification course which included at least six hours of supervised teaching practice.
